The Associated Students election ended on April 21, and the results were announced at the end of a Student Senate meeting. The Hornet reported last week on the election, including information on the candidates and the positions they were running for. Here is the voter turnout
The A.S. committee represents the students of Fullerton College in many of the school’s developments, from common campus events like Club Kickoff to district-level policies.
At the beginning of the A.S. committee meeting, the current President of Student Senate, Amanda Rivadas, hinted that voter turnout was higher than usual for A.S. elections. When the election numbers were released, most winners had won by hundreds of votes.
Incoming President of Student Senate Julieta Gonzalez won 353 votes compared to their runner-up Dylan Juarez with 218 votes, and incoming VP of Activities Kay Su won by 258 votes against their runner-up Cody Sova with 185 votes.
Gonzalez, who is the current VP of Student Senate and partnered with the Hive Team, campaigned for president on continuing to build a welcoming campus, making the students feel represented, and actively doing their best to resolve issues related to the campus.
The newly appointed VP of Activities, Kay Su, who also campaigned as part of “The Hive Team,” ran on continuing to push more events, as well as listening to students’ voices and suggestions.

Gabriela Miranda, the newly appointed VP of Student Senate, promised to be committed to uplifting and advocating for students’ voices. According to her statement on her candidate bio, her mission is to connect all students with opportunities to advance the community.
“I feel like we want to really connect with students on campus and provide greater opportunities, like events that provide them with the necessary academic support,” said Miranda. “We want to make sure that we still serve the students above everything else.”
The newly appointed VP of Finance, Amelia Tran, campaigned with a business administration background, with the hopes of hearing student concerns and finding practical solutions.
Newly appointed VP of Public Relations, Vanessa Vu, campaigned for better communications while being informative for the students of FC. With experience in video editing and graphic design, she plans on improving their social media to better engage with the community.
The newly appointed Student Trustee, Samantha Meili, campaigned with the idea of advocating for transparency, fair access to resources, and expanded opportunities. Meili also plans to support undocumented students by providing resources to protect their privacy and to protect access to education.
Kaushai Pacchai, the new VP of Records, campaigned with promises to focus on improving the maintenance and distribution of records and to strengthen the communication between the student government and the student body. He also wants to work to get more financial support through scholarships.
All 6 members of “The Hive Team,” who had been campaigning through social media and in person, won the positions they campaigned for.
Gonzalez stated that they have no timeline for the next semester, but that over the summer, they intend to prepare themselves for the newly appointed responsibilities.
“Honestly, in the first semester, we want to make a lot of changes,” said Gonzalez. “There’s no timeline, like, by the third or fourth week to have something done, but overall, as we all work together, I think we could definitely accomplish things way faster than in the past.”
