A new community clinic was officially opened in Fullerton on April 1, 2026, operated by Family Health Matters. Aimed to expand community access to affordable healthcare services and ensure public health by providing comprehensive medical care, family planning, mental health, vision, and dental services to individuals across the community.
North Orange County Regional Health Foundation, under the name Family Health Matters, is a non-profit health center that has served the Orange County community for over 30 years, focusing on helping unhoused families and those experiencing homelessness access more affordable healthcare.
The Family Health Matters clinic is community-based, low-cost, and centers on fulfilling all the healthcare needs in the community, regardless of one’s ability to pay for the cost.
The clinic will be able to break through any transportation issues for patients by partnering with local organizations to provide mobile units for residents who do not have access to the internet and transportation, according to Joshualyn Hartman, the Community Outreach and Program manager of the North Orange County Regional Health Foundation.
“We all stand behind our vision to be able to serve the community, the passion that we have to not just serve the community but everyone, right when we don’t turn anyone away for the inability to pay,” said Hartman.
A big benefit of the clinic is that they not only accept insurance like Medicare, Medi-Cal, and many other private insurance plans, but also accept patients who have no insurance.
The patients who do not have insurance will be a part of the Sliding Fee Program at the Family Health Matter, which determines the co-payment based on family size and income provided by the patient, and is at a low cost, especially for student patients.
The clinic offers various programs to help cover the cost of healthcare services, such as exams and vaccines, regardless of whether a patient can afford them. The Family Pact for children, Presumptive Eligibility for pregnant women, Every Women Counts, and Children’s Representative Eligibility are programs that the patients can apply for and get benefits.
“I think as a college student, it’s a huge resource for them to be able to know that Family Health Matters,” Hartman remarked, “is there to support them in the way that they need, the way that they are looking for, and to also be heard and understood and to be seen as a patient, as a community member and as a valued patient here at Family Health Matters.”
